Today i created my first CodePlex project ( Web Analytics Tool ). The idea behind this project is a very basic requirement of knowing 'How my site is doing ?'.
Every website owner be it individual or business, be it commercial website or personal wants to know following things about the usage of its website :
- How its getting used.
- How much its getting used
- When its getting used
- From where its getting used
- and many more things ...
The objective of this project is to build a component which can be plugged into asp.net websites for gathering enough data so that following information can be derived out of that data :
Usage pattern over :-
- Time of the day, week, month, year, etc.
- OS and browser versions
- Location : city, country
- Popularity of content/action
- Time spent on website
- Navigation pattern
- Other useful data
The architecture of component will support collection of data in online mode but analysis will be done offline to have minimum impact of site performance.
Currently there are tools available for getting this information but either they are remotely hosted like Google analytics or commercial like WebTrends.
Pls join in building this tool which can be used by everyone. Feel free to mail me at vikasgoyal77@gmail.com .
Send me your CodePlex id and i will add you to the team.
The URL for the project is http://www.codeplex.com/webanalytics
